What is Lycopene?
Lycopene is a powerfull antioxidant, called a carotenoid, which makes tomatoes red. But it does not have any Vitamin A activity (it is not converted into vitamin A as the body needs it).
Lycopene has significantly more antioxidant capability than beta-carotene, and it is widely used in health food, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other fields.
It has also been found to protect against the carcinogens in tobacco smoke and exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
